Wellness Student Intern

At Miles Perret Cancer Services, our mission is to help families in Acadiana fight, survive, and live with cancer. Our core focus is on meeting our clients where they are with care and compassion and offering a community that supports them in every part of their journey. 

MPCS is seeking a part-time Kinesiology/Health Promotion Student Intern who is passionate about our mission, enthusiastic about supporting our clients, and eager to promote our values of compassion, empathy, teamwork, humility, kindness, dedication, and continuous improvement. 

Position Summary

• Assist with planning a nutrition class for clients
• Create flyers, posters, and handouts to promote health among clients and employees
• Assist clients with individual exercise plans prescribed by Wellness Director, update exercise plans as needed, and record progress
• Document all client visits and contacts in MPCS client database
• Fax and document physician approval and follow-up with client for program appointments
• Assist with post-assessment follow-up calls
• Help facilitate various exercise classes (a plus, but not required)
• Assist with researching latest cancer wellness information for bulletin boards, website, and client handouts
• Assist in planning and implementing Staff Wellness Challenges
• Assist in cleaning and organizing Wellness Center
• Internship is open to a current UL-Lafayette student. 

• Candidate should be a good-natured self-starter and have strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and technology skills. 

Attendance requirements:

To be set by Wellness Manager, based on student’s class and work schedule.

MPCS is looking for a student who is able to start in either the Summer or Fall term with the potential to stay multiple terms.
