At Miles Perret Cancer Services, our mission is to help families in Acadiana fight, survive, and live with cancer.
The Receptionist is a vital role on the MPCS team and should promote our values of compassion, teamwork, humility, kindness, and dedication. The Receptionist is the first point of contact for our Center and is someone who demonstrates compassion towards our clients, their families, and our team both in person and over the phone. This person welcomes guests and clients to the Center in a welcoming, hospitable, and professional manner and directs incoming phone calls to the appropriate department or employee. Additionally, the Receptionist offers assistance and support to team members across the organization when needed.
The more common duties include:
- Welcomes guests with a pleasant and positive attitude.
- Informs Service Coordinators of client/visitors needs in a timely fashion and follows the rotation.
- Documents client visits on the online spreadsheet.
- Ensures reception area is tidy and presentable.
- Answers phone using the standard ‘Miles Perret’ greeting in a clear warm and professional manner.
- Transfers caller to the correct department or employee.
- Daily responsibility includes forwarding any voicemails from the General mailbox to the appropriate department.
- Responsible for assisting other departments with projects when requested- such as assisting the Services Department with Care Kit inserts, Advancement Department with event items, etc.
- Assists in the overall execution of MPCS fundraising events (Games of Acadiana and Camellia Crossing).
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Receptionist skills and proficiencies:
- Pleasant, compassionate personality
- Good-natured self-starter
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Proven admin or assistant experience
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- High school diploma or equivalent
